Major General James H. Gamer was appointed the Adjutant General of Mississippi on Jan 15, 1992 and was reappointed to a second term in 1996 where he served until his retirement in Jan 2000.General Gamer began his military career in 1951 when he enlisted in the Mississippi National Guard. He was commissioned a 2d Lt, Transportation Corps, in 1953.He served on active duty from October 1954 to August 1957 with Hq Co, XVIII Airborne Corps, Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. Prior to his appointment as Adjutant General he served as Assistant Adjutant General for Operations, Training and Readiness and Commanding General STARC Troop Command. MG Gamer also served as commander of the 114 Area Support Group, commander 31st Support Center (Rear Area Operations), and commander of the 2d Bn 20th Special Forces Gp (Abn)General Gamer’s awards and decorations include: The Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, GoodConduct Medal, Master Parachute Wings and Special Forced Tab.He is married to the former Jean Inglis of Moss Point.
