Major Walter Raymond Jones, Junior

Major Walter Raymond Jones, Junior was born on Warner-Robins Air Force Base, Georgia, 31 July 1958. Major Jones was appointed Brigade Assistant S-3, 3d Brigade, 91st Division (TS) on 1 July 2003. Prior to his appointment as Brigade Assistant S-3 he was the Operations and Training Officer, HQ STARC(-), Oregon Army National Guard.

Major Jones graduated from Yokota High School in Tokyo, Japan in 1977. In 1984, he graduated from Seattle University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Sciences. Major Jones graduated from Northern Montana College with a Master of Education Degree in Counseling, in 1989.

Major Jones was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant from the State of Oregon Officer Candidate School, Class 33, on 11 August 1990. Prior to his commissioning, he served more than 11 years enlisted service in both the Oregon Army National Guard and on active duty with the United States Air Force. His active duty assignments included Quality Assurance, 341 Strategic Missile Wing, Malmstrom Air Force Base, Montana.

In the Oregon Army National Guard, Major Jones served as Platoon Leader and Executive Officer, Company B, 1 Battalion 82 Cavalry; S-1 Officer, Commander HHC and Commander Company E, 1 Battalion 186 Infantry. MAJ Jones served as the Action Officer for TIGER BALM 01 / 02 exercises with the Singapore Army.

While serving in the Oregon National Guard, Major Jones worked 13 years as a counselor with the Klamath County School District.

His military education includes: Armor Officer Basic Course; Infantry

Officer Advance Course and Combined Arms and Services Staff School (CAS3); Command and General Staff College.

Major Jones has two children: Danielle who is currently a junior at Oregon Institute of Oregon, Klamath Falls, Oregon and Walter III who is currently a sophomore at University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon.
