Dr. Richard A. O’Leary joined Corning in April 2001 as Director of Human Resources and Diversity for Science & Technology. He is also responsible for maintaining the strength of the technology community across both the centralized and decentralized organizations. In 2003 he assumed additional responsibilities for Corporate Legal and Patent. Prior to joining Corning, Dr. O’Leary was Vice President – Human Resources at Cytometrics, Inc., a biomedical high technology start-up in Philadelphia. He has also held director-level human resource positions at the Public Services Electric & Gas Corporation and at Owens-Corning Corporation. Dr. O’Leary is also nationally recognized for his expertise in organizational development and learning. Dr. O’Leary is an adjunct faculty member of the University of New Jersey School of Medicine. He is a Lt. Col. in the Air National Guard with 17 years of service. As of January 2004 he is Chairman of the Membership Committee of the National Guard Association of which he has been a member for 2 years. He serves on the boards of the Corning Rotary, Watson Homestead and The Science & Discovery Center. Dr. O’Leary holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a master’s degree in Counseling from the University of Delaware and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. Dr. O’Leary was awarded the President’s Excellence Award in 2001, the Distinguished Alumni Award from Western Michigan in 2002, the Patrick Henry Award from the National Guard Association in 2003 and the Paul Harris Fellow Award from Rotary International in June 2004. He and his wife Susan reside in Painted Post, NY, and have two children, Katelynn and Ameila.
