 The National Guard Memorial Library
One Massachusetts Avenue

Washington, D.C. 20001

The National Guard Memorial Library opened, in the National Guard Memorial building, when the memorial was completed in 1991. The library currently has 4,060 military related books cataloged, National Guard archives, historical artifacts, photographs, documents, and un-cataloged materials. Library materials are only for use in the library and may not be taken out of the library. Copying services are available.

The mission of the library is to promote public awareness of the National Guard by providing information about the history and traditions of the Guard, and serve as an information and research center for NGAUS members and staff, the Guard community, and the public. The library staff works to preserve the archives and library materials, actively collect additional archival materials, and assist library patrons.

The library is open to the public Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, except holidays. Catalog listings and on-line National Guard history are available from the Online Reference Desk.
