COL Felderman’s current assignment (3/23/2005) is Director – Northcom Operations Center, wtih J33 Current Operations. His most recent assignment was as Brigade Commander of 105th Troop Command (a peacetime command & control brigade that deployed 72% of the command to Iraq & Afghanistan during his 25 month tour). His other officer assignments have included; Section Leader with Company B Assault, 47th Aviation (Iowa) & Company D Attack (Florida), numerous staff & command assignments with Troop D and HHD, 1-194th Air Cavalry (Iowa), various staff positions (Admin, intelligence, training, and operations) in the 1st Battalion 109th Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Regiment (Iowa), Commander-1187th Medical Company, Air Ambulance (1990 to 1993 with 8 months of active service during Desert Shield and Storm), Executive Officer (1994-1997) Battalion Commander (1997-2000) of the 1st Battalion, 109th Aviation Regiment, (Iowa), and Internal Control Officer for the Iowa Army National Guard.

Colonel Bob Felderman received his military commission in 1977 as the Commandant’s List Graduate in Army Officer Candidate School at Ft. Benning, Georgia. He was previously enlisted with both the Army and the Air National Guard having achieved the rank of Sergeant. COL Feldermans current assignment (3/22/2004) is Commander, 105th Troop Command (a peacetime command & control brigade). He was the first Iowa Army National Guard Officer to attend the National War College in Washington, D.C., graduating with the Class of 2001. COL Feldermans awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2), Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal (2), Armed Forces Reserve Medal with Mobilization Device, Army Service Ribbon, Iowa Meritorious Service Medal, Iowa Commendation Medal, Iowa Humanitarian Service Ribbon, Iowa Force Support Package Ribbon, Iowa State Service Ribbon (4), Florida Commendation Medal, and Hawaii Commendation Medal. He is a Master Army Aviator qualified in the OH-58 A & C models, and the UH-1H & V model helicopters, with over 2,220 flight hours during his 22 year military flying career. In 1988, he received his Bachelor’s Degree with a major in Aviation Management and Flight Operations from the University of Dubuque, Iowa. In 2001, he received his Masters of Science Degree in National Security Strategy from the National Defense University, Washington DC. COL Felderman is married to the former Nancy Said of Dubuque, Iowa. He has a son Jacob (a 2003 University of Iowa Law School Graduate now working as an attorney with a San Diego, CA, law firm), and a daughter Jamie Rae (2002 graduate from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville with a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies & minor in photography and Spanish), working as a commercial photographer in Jacksonville, Florida.
